  • Under the guidance of Archbishop Emeritus Joseph F. Naumann, Holy Family School of Faith Institute offers a course of study combining distance-learning courses with in-person sessions offered at Savior Pastoral Center in Kansas City, Kansas. The program aims to form Spiritual Mentors for the New Evangelization to serve as guide and companion to others on their journey to holiness. It is designed for Catholics who have a desire to develop a deep prayer and sacramental life, to increase their knowledge of the Catholic faith, to grow in the virtues and a desire to help others do the same.

    We are currently accepting applications for our Class of 2027.  The in-residence schedule is as follows:

    Session I - February 23 - 28, 2026
    Session II - September 14 - 19, 2026
    Session III - February 22 - 27, 2027
    Session IV - September 13 - 18, 2027

    The cost for each session is $1950 ($1650 for daily commuters) and includes all the courses in the session, course materials, as well as room and board during the session.  

    Please carefully read this application. Make sure the information you provide is complete and accurate. A one-time application fee of $30 will be collected at the time of application.

    • By filling out this application, it does not mean an immediate acceptance to the Catholic Spiritual Mentors Program but a request for consideration to be a participant.

      Applicants must be at least 25 years of age and have been a practicing Catholic for the past 3 years by the time the program begins.  (If you don't meet these requirements yet feel called to become a spiritual mentor, please contact us to discuss further.  Situations can be reviewed on an individual basis.)  There will be a personal interview required for entrance to the program and this interview may be done via Zoom or phone.

      There is an ongoing discernment for the suitability of each accepted candidate throughout the duration of the program and understanding that each candidate is under probationary status during the program.

      Each accepted candidate is expected to abide by the Code of Conduct during the length of the program and upon completion of it.

    • Code of Conduct 
    • I understand that if accepted into the Catholic Spiritual Mentors Program, I am expected to:

      • complete the required pre-requisite distance learning courses prior to each of the in-residence sessions.
      • have a spiritual director/mentor during the program and upon completion of it with whom I am meeting regularly (monthly).  If I don't have a spiritual mentor for a period of time, I will inform School of Faith to discuss my plan, e.g. asking SoF to help match me with someone, requesting an interim spiritual mentor or asking a Spiritual Mentor that I know.
      • be faithful to the teachings of the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church.
      • maintain confidentiality with regard to the practice mentee* during the program and upon completion of it.
      • exercise prudence before, during, and after the practice spiritual mentorship sessions with the practice mentee. This includes:
        • not offering spiritual mentorship to persons of the opposite gender.
        • not consuming alcohol during the spiritual mentorship session.
        • not offering spiritual mentorship to minors**.
      • understand that this Code of Conduct is subject to change.

      *“Practice Mentee” refers to the individual currently receiving spiritual guidance from a mentor-in-training, offered as part of the trainee’s learning and development.
      **The Catholic Spiritual Mentors Program is not designed specifically to equip you to offer spiritual mentorship to minors. To do this, you will need additional child protection training, for example, Virtus Training.
